Learning to Write ‘In Scene’ | E.J. Runyon’s Author Blog.
Showing vs. Telling
It’s such an important lesson for writers, and E.J. explains it so well in this post that even I could understand it.
It’s Friday, but mark this one as worth the read. In fact, it’s worth reading more than once.
You always have such wonderful recommendations – thanks for leading us to these great posts!

I love how your blog is full of gems – you are great at spotting great posts.
On another note – I wanted to let you know about this review I talked about. I’m so far really intrigued by both walker and altro and their relationship and looking forward to seeing how the story pans out. At some point I realised that I’ve never done a book review, and this thought came close to thinking how few self published books I’ve seen reviewed outside of the blogging world. I got in touch with a writer I know who does lots of reviewing and I’ve asked if they would contribute a regular post on my blog to give self published authors a chance at having a serious analysis of their writing. This, I felt, would benefit everyone – both readers and writers. What is means is that The Valley Walker is the test run for this new initiative. It’s actually the first self published book this reviewer has read!! The other thing is that he’s not going to be able to start doing the reviews till April. I know, ages away. But be patient.
Hope you’re well and have a great weekend.

Gems. I like that. Makes me a miner.
No worries about the review thing, Gabriela. I just hope people like it, and they don’t lock me up. 😉

No one is going to lock you up – I won’t let them, I enjoy your visits to my blog too much 😉
Something strange is going on because your reply to this didn’t show up where I normally get messages. I’ve been changing my email settings etc. So I’m going to try unfollowing you and following again, and see if that makes a difference. I would appreciate if you reply something to this to see if it shows up… Sorry to be a pain.

You did show up in the follow indicator, and you’re NOT a pain. You’re a gem I found.

Grrr – I’m not getting my notifications still, and it’s not just your blog, but all the ones I’ve been commenting on recently. The good thing is that people have replied to me – that bad thing is that I’m not getting told about it…any suggestions?

There’s a box you can check for being notified by email when you comment. Something’s changed, I think. I used to rely on the Notifications balloon, but I don’t think I’m seeing all replies either.
