I don’t know how many of you read Toby Neal, but she is the real deal. Her Lei Crime Books draw me in and hold me captive. They are well written and professionally presented.
Well, listen up people: Toby Neal just had her first book signing at Barnes & Noble. An indie author broke through into the largest brick and mortar bookstore in America.
This is a dream come true for a lot of writers, the Holy Grail of the majority of aspiring novelists. It can be done.
To see how Ms. Neal did it, click on the picture below. You’ll go to her blog site, and get the word from someone who knows what they’re talking about.
Thanks, Tim! I shared this on Facebook. It’s quite eye-opening.

I’ve known about the whole returnability bugaboo, and even planned to write a blog about it myself. I’d do it, but decided I just can’t afford the cost of returns. It works out to be cheaper for me to buy advetising! It was an interesting article, and it’s good to know it works. I’m not sure it’s part of my bucket list to have books on B&N shelves. I’m talking to my own local B&N about a book-signing, and they’re somewhat OK with it, because my books can be ordered from them, in print and for their Nook. I’m just not sure I want to sit at a table in the store for three hours. I’ve done it at small, indie book stores here…and sometimes I’m pretty much the only person in the store. DID sell a few books at one…to the other two authors who were there that day.
Thanks for the post, Tim. 😉

Yeah. We want to reach someone other than other authors. 🙂

That was an interesting post, Tim. A lot of upfront investment (the Kirkus review alone is daunting). I think that if I was at a different point in my career (younger), I’d be willing to work this hard for a B&N placement, but probably not now. Great share.
