I stumble across things that really hit me, and I pass them on.

I almost fainted a few years ago. The strange sensation of weakness came upon me slowly, and as I stood, darkness began to cover my vision even as my eyes remained open. I blinked to clear the darkness, but my vision returned only after I had sat down and taken some deep breaths. My sight and the light were slowly restored to me and the weakness and fear dissipated. The reality of the situation was that it was early in the morning and I hadn’t had anything to eat, so my blood sugar was probably low.

Even so, that incident got me thinking about how gradually the darkness comes about. Not necessarily the darkness of fainting, but the darkness within my soul. I never realize am I falling away from the light, that my eyes are closing and I am hiding myself in the shadows. I try to open my…
