Time Enough
I’m reminded of the limit to my time more often lately.
But rather than view the brick wall looming before me as a reminder of the necessity to accomplish a given task before I hit the wall, I’ve started to consider this an opportunity to enjoy just doing what I’m doing.
The things I do aren’t done with an end product in mind anymore, but for the simple satisfaction of doing them.
The time isn’t measured. The effort isn’t work.
Huh.
one of my favorite quotes about time come from a David Byrne Song: “Life is long if you give it away.”

You’ve been on my mind lately, and I’ve thought recent events would have been felt deeply by you. I like your thoughts here, Tim, and I hope to follow in your footsteps. Next week I will no longer have deadlines or self-imposed stresses. I like the idea of having simple satisfaction in the things I choose to do. Well put.

I’m lucky enough to have reached that stage where I can think about such things. I’m surely not trying to convert anyone. Maybe just trying to figure myself out. 😉

Tim, you have real wisdom here. Funny how I just happened to come accross it while I was taking an onscreen walk around in the midst of composing my post inspired by a quotation from Richard Jefferies:”It is eternity now. I am in the midst of it”

Don’t know if it’s the right way to do things or not. It doesn’t work for everyone. Some people need to be pushing against something.

Time is the only priceless commodity we have. I try every day to use mine wisely and not rush through it. As you said so succinctly, “the simple satisfaction” is what counts.
It’s so good to see you in the Reader again!

Nah. I’m just lazy. 😉

I like to think I’m ‘laid back’ because I think the same way, Tim – but laziness could have something to do with it. I just do what I want to do and this can sometimes be frustrating for others, but hey – life isn’t a practice run, this is it so make the most of it 😀

A wonderful reminder. Just what I needed to hear on this sunny Saturday, Tim… I will do the laundry another day and enjoy the sun while it lasts. Thanks 🙂

Liiving in Thailand I would often not know what day it was– until my wife wanted me to do something. While here in the States I’ve had to start wearing a watch and waiting on time to catch up. Your ideas are the best!
