Came across this posting at Neglected Space and had to share it. It’s worth the time it takes to read it.
With so many voices yelling so loudly about how and what to write, it can be nearly impossible to find your own voice, to say what YOU want to say in your own way.
Read this, agree and concur!

Thanks for stopping in and commenting. It was worthwhile for me to read, and thought it may be for some others that drop by.

Have you submitted any of your work to university publications?

Haven’t. I’ve had some pretty damn bright people read my stuff (son-in-law the MIT grad and daughter the Columbia grad), then argued with them about dialogue. Oh yeah, I’m that hard-headed.

You may want to check out some of the quarterly fiction university publications and submit your work.

Yikes! I better take cover. Maybe I should see if the Army will lend me Amanda for protection.
So glad you are hanging with the “eliminate needless word” crowd as well as the Strunk and White dislikers.

I’m trying to learn everything I can. To me that means looking at as many viewpoints as I can handle, then making up my own mind about what to do. Trust me, I listen to what you have to say Read my post “Clearing My Throat”, and you’ll see how much fun I’m having with this.

I’m really just talking to myself, trying to make sense of what the heck I’m doing. I’m reading books and listening to people in an effort to learn the craft, but my ego keeps telling me that it has to be more than good craftsmanship.

I think we are all saying the same thing to ourselves. A great story could be buried in detritus. Make the words sing!

I was so caught up in the moment that I neglected to clarify that. Hanging my head and taking my meds, as ordered. ;-P
