It’s 9:05 a.m. and I’m sitting here drinking coffee, listening to the generator.

We’re without electricity (have been for 24 hours now), so I cranked up the monster to save things in the freezer and do a little catch up on email and the ethernet. It’s amazing how many things use electricity, and how much we take it for granted. But enough about electron flow, or however you want to think of it.

Today is my wedding anniversary.

The girl I called Sunshine has ripened into a woman over the years. She became a good life-partner, a loving mother to my children, and is now a wonderful grandmother.

She’s endured my naïveté, my constant battle against authority, and some generally stubborn behavior while trying to maintain a level of sanity in our household.

A lot has changed since that day we got on a bus in Planig, Germany… just to find out where it would go… and a lot has stayed the same.

Happy anniversary, Baby.
